Rocky
Rocky A.K.A. Rockhim first took
members for a drive in a jog cart used to train Standardbreds for
racing.
He then switched into his pleasure harness, and offered members
a chance to drive with a much larger wooden Spinner Cart.
The jog cart
was literally a "snap" with a quick hitch that attached the cart with
ease. The pleasure harness took a bit longer to attach but Rocky stood
patiently as we secured the traces and the breeching.
Our members enjoyed a trip or two around the track to get a feel for driving.
Susie and Annie are discussing their driving plans. Seeing Susie with ears forward is a beautiful sight!
John and Meagan take a drive in the jog cart.
Our horses are exercised in an enclosed training track. They must be obedient before we venture out to drive on paved and dirt roads. Be sure that your horse can follow all commands, walk, trot and halt. Creating distractions on the training track will tell you how your horse will handle the many surprises he will encounter on the roads.
